Harold A. (Drew) Bridges is a principal of the Firm and has a higher education, municipal, securities, employment and general business and litigation practice. Mr. Bridges’ practice emphasizes higher education, employment, business and commercial litigation, and securities advice, counsel and litigation. Mr. Bridges represents colleges and universities, public agencies, and large and small private business entities. He has been actively engaged in the practice of law for more than 36 years and served as a leading partner of a mid-size law firm for 18 years, including 15 years as a member of the firm’s management group.
Mr. Bridges is General Counsel for Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, CA. In this capacity he provides general counsel and advice to the University’s Board of Trustees, the University President, Senior Vice Presidents and Deans, including the Dean of Loyola Law School. He also defends or manages the defense of the University against administrative and litigation claims brought by students, applicants, faculty, staff and employees, neighboring residents and others.
Mr. Bridges also represents individuals in connection with securities arbitrations and litigation, including represention before the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority (FINRA), as well as before state and federal courts. Mr. Bridges has also served his public entity clients as a City Attorney and as lead trial counsel for dozens of cities in a variety of matters.
Mr. Bridges has also served as National Employment Counsel for a national sales and marketing company with over 19,000 employees throughout the United States and Canada.
For many years, Mr. Bridges has headed litigation teams that have defended numerous private and public entities against a variety of business, commercial, civil rights and employment claims, including the successful representation of a public entity against a pattern and practice discrimination suit by the United States Department of Justice. He served as lead insurance coverage counsel for 29 cities who successfully sought defense and indemnification for CERCLA response costs in response to a suit brought by 64 industrial generators in connection with a Superfund landfill closure. Mr. Bridges has appeared on numerous occasions before state and federal trail courts and appellate courts, including the California Supreme Court.
Admitted to the California Bar in 1980, Mr. Bridges received a B.A. in Political Science, magna cum laude, from Loyola Marymount University (1977) and a J.D., magna cum laude, from Loyola Law School (1980). Mr. Bridges is admitted to practice before all state and federal courts in California. He is also a member of the National Association of College and University Attorneys.
